So, I really enjoy shows on HGTV. If I’m not careful, I can spend countless hours watching homebuyers surf the Caribbean for their new shoreline treasure. The other day I indulged in an episode of Fixer Upper, an unconventional home buying show on HGTV. Fixer Upper is a charming show about remodeling outdated homes with witty couple Chip and Joanna Gaines. Chip and Jo, transform gutted homes into glorious masterpieces with a little refurbishing and a bit of elbow grease.
How does Fixer Upper relate to this blog post or more importantly your life? It’s simple. Look at the image fixed above this post. What do you see?
A bed is correct.
It’s not just any bed though. Did you notice that the headboard of that bed is a door? That’s right the headboard was once a door! This homeowner decided to utilize an old door, refurbish it and use it to provide depth, texture and personality to the space. That is exactly what renewal can look like in your life.
The word “RENEW”, broken up is (re)new which simply means… to make new again.
I charge you to think out of the box. Or in other words take a second, third or even fourth look at your situation. Look at what is in your hand. Look at what is present in your life. Don’t focus on what you don’t have, focus on what you DO have. With a lot of thought and a little creativity you can renew your life and situation into something purpose-full, beautiful, creative and unique. So I challenge you to transform the door in your life, refurbish it and create something with depth, texture and beauty.
You have the power right now to renew (aka press the refresh button) on your life, health, marriage, relationships, career, education, family, situation, etc. That is SUPER POWER! You right now have the beautiful ability to decide in your MIND that you will renew whatever you want. You too can transform a gutted life into a glorious masterpiece with a little bit of refurbishing and a bit of elbow grease.
Now that’s something to smile about,
